Netflix Guide HD is an Android Tablet based app that helps you find great movies and shows to watch.  We hope to release the app by the end of May 2011.

If you know the name of the movie you want to watch, it’s easy to search the Netflix web site.  But what if you just want to find a great movie but the recommendations list from Netflix just isn’t cutting it?  If you are like me and live in a home with multiple people, Netflix recommendations aren’t always relevant.

Now there is a way to search for movies and shows that goes way beyond what you can do on the Netflix web site.  With Netflix Guide HD, you can create customized searches and save them for latter.  For example, create a search called Top Dramas that searches for all movies in the drama category, with a 3 star rating or higher, rated PG or PG 13,  available on Instant.  Oh, on top of that, sort it so the most recent releases show at the top of the list.

Quick feature list:

• Search on title, synopsis, genre, format (Instant, DVD, BluRay), MPAA rating, star rating, show type (movie, show) and year of release
• Netflix queue management
• Browse top categories
• Mark your favorite movies and shows, and share your list with friends (coming soon)

Known Issues

• Can’t add some TV shows to Instant or DVD queue. This is a new issue with the Netflix OData API.  Netflix is working on the issue
• The search results don’t match the Netflix web site. This is also an issue with the Netflix OData API.  Netflix is working on the issue
